QUALIFICATIONS FOR FOSTER and/or ADOPTION PARENTING

4PointsKids is dedicated to ensuring that children in need have excellent care and stable housing. Our goal is to provide quality supervision, care and support – physical, emotional, social, and spiritual – for children in the foster care system. In order to achieve this objective, 4Points recruits and accepts applications from qualified, mature adults interested in fostering and adopting children in the care of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS).

To become a 4PointsKids foster/adopt parent, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI background check and CPS Central Registry check.

  • Be at least 25 years of age.

  • Be a legal resident of the United States.

  • Have a high school diploma/GED.

  • Have had no major life changes in the past year.

  • Be gainfully employed and financially stable and able to provide for foster children without assistance.

  • Have a driver’s license, auto insurance and dependable transportation.

  • Have a computer, printer, and internet in the home.

  • Complete all pre-verification training and paperwork within four (4) months of submitting your application.

  • Be willing to abide by a policy of no physical discipline.

  • Maintain annual training requirements of 30 hours/year for each parent.

  • Be a responsible, mature adult capable of meeting the needs of children in care.

  • Demonstrate a lifestyle that embraces the basic tenets of the Christian faith, including involvement in a local church. See our Statement of Beliefs.
